Date of census:  5th April 1891

In the 1891 census, a schedule was delivered to every household before the night of the census, completed by the householder, and collected by the enumerator after the night of the census.  The enumerator then copied the details from the individual schedules into his Enumeration Book.

Extract from General Instruction to the Enumerator:
NAMES - Write the First Christian Name in full;  initials, or the first letters of the other Christian Names of a person who has more than one must be inserted.

Abbreviations:  SN - Schedule number;  Cond - Condition as to marriage;  Age(M/F) - Age last birthday (males/females);  do - ditto;  M - married;  S - single;  W - widowed;  Er - Employer;  Ed - Employed;  N - Neither Employer nor Employed.

* This name is difficult to read because it has been altered.  Searching the 1881 census for Midlands West (Cheshire, Hereford, Shropshire, Stafford, Worcester) and Midlands East (Derby, Leicester, Nottingham, Warwick) (wildcards cannot be used to search the National Index) for Fanny Mo*y, b 1866 +/- 5 years in Derbyshire, produced only one good match, Fanny Moorley age 15 born and living at home in Hazlewood.  Hazelwood is a village 2 miles N of Duffield.
